When God Was Silent, The Jackals Spoke for God

The jackals are pulling the levers of power
politicians and preachers who speak for God
They do not wait for God speak

They are false architects.
They have built a wall of lies,
a house of cards,
and smeared it with whitewash.

They gather a rally, stand before it and declare the wall
The greatest wall.
A righteous wall.
A blessed wall

But what happens when the wall collapses
because it will?
Who gets crushed?
The poor.
The sick.
The immigrant.
The innocent.

The least of these, of course.

Yet, they keep speaking for God
from their own diseased imaginations
claiming divine authority
when God has said nothing.

They declare, “Peace”
But there is no peace.

Peace is a mere slogan.
Peace is branding.
Peace is a shield to protect power
while they stir violence in the streets.

They cast visions of dominance
nd abandon the vulnerable.
They promise security while accelerating decay.
They rule, but only over ruins.

But God will not have it.
God will not be mocked.

The storm will come.
The wall will collapse.
The whitewash will fade.
And they will perish with the structure they built.
Their names will be erased from the story they tried to hijack.

But this word is not only judgment.

It is warning.
And it is an invitation.

It is a call to Christians
Do not build up what God and not authorized.
Do not bless what God has not blessed.
Do not confuse God’s silence with approval.

Let us wait for the voice of God.
Seek not the “peace” of false prophets.
Instead, embrace the peace of Christ

Stand with those who would be crushed by crumbling walls.
Let us with God’s help build what can endure the storm:

Let us speak truth instead of deceit,
justice instead of dominance,
compassion instead of fear.

For God is not finished.
And the ruins do not get the final word.
